When FEED SA heard the inspiring story of Vusi Mguni, we jumped in to help.
22-year old Vusi is a young man with a physical disability, but he doesn’t allow that to get him down. Despite the fact that financial constraints and his disability held him back from finishing matric, Vusi is determined to finish school and become a successful young man. He’s working hard to better his English skills, and attending speech and language therapy at Wits University with a 4th year student.
Even though his only income is his disability grant, with which he also supports his younger sister and his aunt, Vusi is always willing to help. He volunteers in the special needs program at Afrika Tikkun’s centre in Orange Farm. He’s saving R200 a month to try and save up for a small table and chair and a chest of drawers for his small room in the shack that he rents.
FEED SA helped him on his journey to success by giving him the gift of a desk and chairs, a cupboard, a bed and a fridge. Now Vusi has a great study area to help him on his road to finishing school!
