The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Africa (BGCSA) is a facility based afterschool programme providing structured programmes and activities daily to members between the ages of 6 and 18. The Clubhouse facility serves as a safe haven for young people where they can explore their talents and abilities in a supportive environment supervised by trained professional staff.
The BGCSA partnership with Feed SA has enabled the Pimville Clubhouse to provide a meal to over 120 Clubhouse members on a daily basis. For many of the children, it’s the only meal they get outside of school, and for some it’s the only meal.
Before Feed SA became a sponsor and partner of BGCSA the children would come to the club after school hungry and anxious. It was difficult to implement programmes and activities when all they wanted and needed was food in their stomach. Because of the on-going support of Feed SA, we are able to provide a meal that removes their worry of food security allowing them to enjoy their time to study, play and participate in meaningful programmes and activities.
The meal we are able to provide with the support of Feed SA is one of the most important aspects of the Boys & Girls Club programme in Pimville. BGCSA and the children we serve appreciate the continued support and look forward to a bright future with FEED SA.
